Studied architecture at North Carolina State University and University of Princeton. Received master's degree in urban design at Harward University. Started his academic career in urban design at the University of Cincinnati. Taught urban design and planning courses at Cincinnati between 1963-1996. Served as Head of the Department and School Director. Conducted many major urban projects as well as teaching, researching and consulting activities. Took part in Cincinnati Planning Commission. His major project on the protecting Cincinnati's hillsides awarded by U.S. Forestry Service and the American Society of Landscape Architects. Took part in numerous environmental conservation and reserach projects. Drafted legistlation for historical preservation. Took part in Naples City Plannng Advisory Board. Participated to the urban design courses at Middle East Technical University, Department of City and Regional Planning as a visiting professor. Besides METU, taught courses at İstanbul Technical University, The National College of Art in Lahore, The School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi and Anna University in Madras.
