The Map and Plan Documentation Unit is located within the Faculty of Architecture at Middle East Technical University. The archive consists of two main sections: a workspace where plans and project documents are stored, and a library section. The area containing plans and documents is organized to facilitate the examination of archival materials and support research activities. The library is composed of two sub-collections: the Gönül Tankut Library, which focuses on studies related to Ankara, and a general collection that includes publications on cities across Türkiye.

The archive infrastructure and physical facilities include:

• A plan and map storage system with 91 drawers
• A physical archive space where plans are classified by province and subject
• Office space dedicated to archival work
• A workspace for researchers
• Desktop computers and document processing equipment
• Facilities for photocopying, photography, video recording, and documentation
• A collection of 28 bookcases comprising Ankara and urban planning resources

This physical infrastructure supports the preservation, documentation, and research activities of the archive.
