Hülya Bayrak, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Project Manager

Topic: A Perspective on Urban and Regional Planning Education through the Experience of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

 

The organizational structure, mission, and vision of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as its aspects that align with the discipline of urban and regional planning, will be shared with participants through case studies and experiences. 
All interested individuals are invited.
 
 
Hülya Bayrak
She graduated from the Department of City and Regional Planning at METU in 2009. In 2010, she completed the Minor Program in Geographic Information Systems, followed by the Master's Program in Urban Design at METU in 2013. After working for two years at the Çankaya Municipality Zoning Directorate in 2011, she joined the Eastern Marmara Development Agency in 2013. Over nine years in the agency’s Planning and Project Implementation Units, she was involved in numerous programs, strategies, and projects focused on regional development. 

To bring her regional development work into an academic framework and enrich it with an academic perspective, she pursued a PhD in Urbanism at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. In 2024, she completed her dissertation titled *The Gap Between Regional R&D and Innovation Policies and Their Implementation: The Case of the Eastern Marmara Region*. 

In 2023, she worked as a Coordinator for one year on the Başkent OSB Innovation Center Project at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In 2024, she continued working at UNDP on two projects focused on women's employment. She currently serves as a Project Manager for the *Young Women Building Their Future* Project at UNDP.
