Lecture Series by Dr. Mehmet Çelik – Aachen Municipality, Germany
The Department of City and Regional Planning is pleased to host a distinguished lecture series by Dr. Mehmet Çelik, Director of the Urban Development and City Planning Department at Aachen Municipality, Germany. Dr. Çelik also serves as a part-time lecturer at Aachen University of Applied Sciences (FH) and RWTH Aachen University.
The lecture series is delivered to undergraduate and graduate students in the Department between April 7 - May 9, 2025, and covers the following topics:
- Administrative Planning Structures and Processes in Germany: The Case of Aachen City
- Participation in Planning: Cases from the City of Aachen
- Step-by-Step Urban Design in Germany
- Regeneration Investments in Migrant Neighborhoods of Major German Cities
This series offers valuable insights into contemporary urban planning practices in Germany, with a focus on hierarchy of development plans, climate-responsive urban planning, participation processes and inclusive regeneration strategies.
