The exhibition "Those Who Founded METU (1954–1964)", organized by the Presidency of Middle East Technical University in collaboration with the Department of City and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture, and the Map and Plan Documentation Unit, will open on Saturday, 18 July 2026, at 13.30 at the Vecdi Diker Exhibition Hall, METU Culture and Convention Center.

While focusing on the key figures involved in the establishment of METU, the exhibition also poses the question, "Who builds a university?", presenting the university's history as a collective endeavor shaped by the contributions of many individuals. Covering the years 1954–1964, the exhibition is organized into three sections: "The Foundation and the First Figures," "Identity and Campus," and "Share Your METU Story."

The exhibition has been prepared as part of the "Digital Transformation and Open Access Project for the Map and Plan Documentation Unit" (Departmental BAP Project No. 11782). The curatorial team consists of Duygu Cihanger Ribeiro, Eren Efeoğlu, Selen Karadoğan, and Z. Buket Üstün Kurt.

Shedding light on METU's founding history and institutional memory, the exhibition warmly welcomes all members of the university community and interested visitors.
