Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at METU in 1962. Received master’s degrees in tropical architecture from Pratt Institute in USA in 1965 and in city planning from Department of City and Regional Planning at METU in 1966. Starting from 1966, focused on sybermetic approach in planning, urban modelling, systems approach and information theory and taught the courses of planning techniques and planning methods. Received his PhD in 2005 at METU Department of City and Regional Planning. During 1970s, took part in Antalya Citadel Conservation and Planning Project being one of the pionering examples of the conservation and development of historical spaces in Turkey.
