Baykan GÜNAY, Prof. Dr. (retired in November 2012)
He graduated from the Department of City and Regional Planning at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1968. He completed his Master's degree in the same department in 1971. After working as a freelance urban planner, he spent 6 years in the Physical Planning Group at Turizm Bankası. Since 1981, he has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of City and Regional Planning at METU.
He served as the Deputy Chair of the Department from 1989 to 1994, and as the Department Chair from 2000 to 2003. From 1996 to 1998, he worked as an advisor to the Rector. Starting in 1996, he directed the Urban Design Master's Program until 2012.
He retired on November 11, 2012. He continues to teach part-time in the UD 501-502 Urban Design Studio and CRP 101-102 Planning Studio courses. His areas of expertise include urban development, urban design, tourism planning, physical planning, and basic design.
