Graduated from the University of Cincinatti, School of Architecture. Completed internship with well-known architects Woody Garber and  Alexander Blount Mahood. In 1963, received master’s degree in urban planning from Cornell University. Taught courses at the University of Cincinnati, in the Department of Planning between 1965-1976. Between 1972-1973, taught at METU as a Fulbright lecturer. Started at Miami Unversity as Chairman of the Department of Architecture and appointed as Dean of the School of Fine Arts in 1983. Remained active professionally throughout his academic life. Conducted professional architectural work through May Noe Planning and May Architecture. Served on the Cincinnati Urban Design Board. Held membership of the American Institute of Architects and the American Planning Association.
